VAUGHAN, Ontario (February 15, 2024) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced that construction is complete on an expansion for GP Bikes, a motorsports retailer located in Whitby, Ontario. Ware Malcomb provided architecture and civil engineering services for the exterior renovation and a 6,000 square foot addition.
GP Bikes is one of Canada’s largest dealerships for motorcycles, ATV’s, snowmobiles and E-bikes. The retailer also offers a wide selection of motorcycle and powersports apparel, gear, parts and accessories to prepare its customers for the open road, racetrack or trail.
“The project extended the first and second floors and allowed GP Bikes to expand their auto lineup to include BMW and Indian Motorcycles. Ware Malcomb designed their previous facility renovation back in 2011, and our team enjoyed returning to help this client realize its vision for continued growth,” says Frank Di Roma, Regional Vice President, Ware Malcomb.
In addition to adding square footage, the project included refreshing the exterior using black insulated metal panels (IMP) with a silver trim around all edges of the building and added a front entry canopy along the east side of the building. The team used horizontal silver corrugated metal siding to divide the front façade into two square proportions. The civil engineering team developed a grading plan encompassing the project site frontage, designed piles and footings to ensure adequate soil stabilization for the addition.
The initial project Ware Malcomb worked on with GP Bikes was in 2012 to convert a 30,000 square foot vacant squash court facility into the state-of-the-art retail dealership.
