WASHINGTON D.C. (July 9, 2024) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced the promotions of Lori Ambrusch to Regional Director and Christopher Lazenby to Civil Engineering Manager in the firm’s Washington, D.C. office.
In her new role as Regional Director, Lori Ambrusch is responsible for overall office leadership. She previously led the office’s Science & Technology Studio, which she will continue to oversee. Ambrusch has more than 11 years of in-depth experience in diverse laboratory projects including adaptive reuse, renovations, full floor fit-outs, government design-build and National Institutes of Health (NIH) facilities. An active member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Ambrusch is an award-winning and published designer and regular editorial contributor to Lab Design News.

Ambrusch received her Master of Architecture degree in Urban Design and Certificate in Laboratory Design from Harvard University, and Bachelor of Architecture degree from The Pennsylvania State University. She is an industry mentor as part of the ISPE Women in Pharma/Emerging Leaders mentoring program and participates regularly in the Chesapeake Bay Area Chapter.
With his promotion to Civil Engineering Manager, Chris Lazenby is responsible for growing the office’s civil engineering team, fostering client relationships, developing new business, and working closely with the rest of the D.C. office to continue building the Ware Malcomb presence in the Mid-Atlantic states. He joined Ware Malcomb in 2023 as a Senior Project Manager and became the first registered professional engineer for the firm in the region.

Lazenby brings more than a decade of civil engineering experience to his role at the firm, including management and oversight of multiple land development projects and leading major design aspects of entire projects from start to finish. His expertise includes permit process oversight, construction administration services, and ensuring compliance with local engineering standards for Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland. Under his guidance, the team has successfully delivered several corporate account projects in new jurisdictions under tight schedules.
Lazenby graduated from Virginia Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Washington D.C., Delaware, Georgia, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
