Abraham Esguerra

With over 25 years of experience leading digital transformation and complex IT initiatives across the AEC and IT services industries, Abe Esguerra brings a wealth of expertise and vision to Ware Malcomb. Since joining the firm in 2020, Abe has been instrumental in modernizing its technology landscape and aligning IT capabilities with business strategy. Promoted to Director of Information Technology in 2022, Abe oversees the day-to-day operations of the IT department, including the service desk, network infrastructure, communications, and cybersecurity. He leads a team of IT specialists and engineers, championing the development and implementation of IT policies, standards, compliance measures, and security protocols. His leadership ensures that the firm’s technology operations are efficient, secure, and scalable.

Abe also serves as the primary IT liaison for office expansions, relocations, and new openings. He coordinates the deployment of network infrastructure, conference systems, and standardized workstations — ensuring consistency and reliability across all Ware Malcomb locations. A strong advocate for innovation and cross-functional collaboration, Abe partners closely with business leaders and the Digital Transformation team to foster a culture of continuous improvement. His leadership and partnership with other Company leaders have been pivotal in advancing initiatives like PlanSpot.io, a platform that reflects Ware Malcomb’s commitment to innovation in the built environment.

Abe holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning from California Polytechnic State University, Pomona, and an MBA from Louisiana State University (LSU), giving him a unique understanding of the design business and a unique ability to bridge the gap between technology and Company strategy. Before joining Ware Malcomb, Abe was an active member of the San Diego CIO Roundtable and the American Institute of Technology Professionals (AITP). He has been recognized multiple times by the San Diego Business Journal as a Top Tech Exec nominee and was honored as the Top Technology Executive for a Large Firm in 2014.
