SEATTLE (June 13, 2023) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced Jonathan Thomas, AIA has been promoted to Principal in the firm’s Seattle office. In this role, Thomas continues to lead the growth and management of the Seattle office and support the firms’ initiatives.

Thomas joined Ware Malcomb in 2010 in the firm’s Denver office before moving to the Irvine headquarters in 2011 as a Project Designer. In 2015, he was promoted to Studio Manager and relocated to Seattle to help spearhead the new office in the region. Thomas played an integral role in the launch of the architecture studio in Seattle. Since then, he has seamlessly integrated the firm’s architecture, civil engineering and interior design studios to expand service offerings. This new role will mark his fourth promotion since his move to the Seattle region.
A licensed architect in the state of Washington, Thomas is a multi-faceted professional who contributes extensive experience in the areas of architectural design, master planning, site planning, entitlements, real estate strategy and design development. His experience encompasses all aspects of architecture including self-storage, corporate office buildings, tech, industrial, medical facilities, cold and food, multifamily and retail.
Thomas graduated from North Dakota State University with a Master of Architecture degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Design. Thomas is a member of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He is an active NAIOP Washington chapter member and a graduate of the NAIOP Young Professionals Group program, designed to develop and connect emerging leaders in the real estate industry. For six years, he’s been on Industrial and Office Trends, a national forum for NAIOP. He is also an active member of Self-Storage Association (SSA).
Ware Malcomb entered the Seattle market in 2014 and has since completed more than 2,700 projects in the state of Washington.
