MEXICO CITY (July 18, 2023) – Ware Malcomb, an award-winning international design firm, today announced that construction is complete on a new headquarters for Lenovo, located in the Santa Fe district of Mexico City. Ware Malcomb provided interior architecture and design services for the 29,060 square foot project.
Ranked #171 in the Fortune Global 500 with 77,000 employees worldwide, the global technology company engaged Ware Malcomb with the goal of showcasing the newly merged Lenovo and Motorola brands and cultures in a single synergistic headquarters. The ground floor central lobby space serves as a connecting space to branded Lenovo and Motorola sides of the office, with the upstairs serving as a café and showroom for Motorola products.
The office merges the two brands into a greater whole, all while establishing a feeling of connection with the culture of Mexico City. The design maximizes views of the city and creates a versatile high-tech space featuring a regional, urban look to contrast with the branded showrooms.
“Lenovo’s headquarters was designed with technology, connection and collaboration in mind,” said Jimena Fernandez Navarra, Director, Interior Architecture & Design for Ware Malcomb. “The spaces are dynamic, inviting and embracing of the region.”
Spaces throughout the office headquarters were designed for multiple uses, including huddle rooms for greeting clients, a series of open and private spaces, an auditorium and three cafeterias. Finishes and materials, many of which were created locally, were chosen to create a sense of place and include Mexican ceramic tiles, backsplashes in flooring, acoustic tile, wood surfacing and luxury vinyl tile.
The building’s glass ceiling required the team to develop a successful mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering strategy to ensure desired HVAC capacity. Ware Malcomb partnered with A&E Ingenieria to provide technological upgrades to meet the client’s electrical and WiFi specs to showcase the equipment throughout. General contracting services were performed by T4 Construction.
